Thank you for this post. Very interesting and helpful. I’d like to point out another thing not mentioned in the article above or in the previous comments. KU has its own audience that the author has access to. That’s another thing to take into account.

In reply to Bronwen Evans. But that doesn't factor in those who read many more books under KU. I read a novel every couple of days. I would read nowhere near that without KU, so I hope I and others like me make KU more profitable for authors. I feel like I want to thank each and every one for letting me enjoy their works so much more.

I’m a dedicated KU customer. The main reason I like it is because I can easily “suck it and see” across a broad range of authors and genres.

I think putting some of your work on KU (if that’s possible) is a good idea to get new readers like myself. I’ve found several, and will probably be buying those books from them not on KU.

I will probably be on KU intermittently, stopping every now and then to buy books instead.

I’m probably their worst customer, as I read about 20 books a month, though.

I think the ten book limit that KU has for checked out books helps authors because readers cannot just download a bunch of books that they never read.

For what it’s worth, my wife and I read about 20 books a month from KU.
