Such valuable insights! Why hasn’t anyone done this before? If you listen to other writers, you MUST write a series and you MUST have a newsletter. This survey dispels both those notions. As someone who doesn’t get a lot of feedback, I really appreciate this info.

Fiction refers to literary works that are created from the imagination, rather than being based strictly on real events or facts. In fiction, authors invent characters, settings, and plotlines to tell a story.

In reply to Frank Daley. Hey Frank, I think the big takeaway is readers just want good books. If they love a book, they'll likely read the rest of a series, but few readers are refusing to a read a book because it's a standalone or a series. We don't have the data on non-fiction vs. fiction unfortunately.

This is far from a representative sample of all the readers in the world, but it should give authors a good idea about what our readers value, or how some readers behave.
